Hotel Renovation: In early 1994, the “Railay Bay Resort & Spa” (formerly Railay Bay Bungalow), was established in the tranquil Railay Beach area. We operated to provide accommodations for visitors from around the world.

After the Tsunami disaster of 2004, we found that our resort sustained only minor damage. Fortunately clients come back to visit us in good numbers. The economy and tourism improved favorably.

During the 2005-2006 year, the hotel was able to return to the same level of sales revenue as was achieved in 2003. “Railay Beach” became a new tourist destination adding to the growth and expansion that was seen in Krabi as well the entire Andaman Coast.

This growth and expansion brought not only an increase in tourism but the also the development of competitive properties and businesses. New hotels located at Railay beach entered the hospitality market and quickly became direct competitors to us.

Our occupancy rate began new to drop as the property lost many of its clients to the new competitors. A major change in consumer behavior became prominent. On the other hand, some customers felt more comfortable keeping their budget in check and choosing to stay with us instead of paying much more to stay in a Luxury or Boutique resort found in nearly the same location as our resort.

The owners were forced to either improve their competitiveness by offering 4 Star services or shut down the hotel.

They decided to perform the largest renovation project since opening the resort. This renovation was ongoing from 1 May 2006– 31 October, 2006. They invested in building a new swimming pool in the middle of the resort, and also renovating the public areas, the restaurant, the lobby, and the facilities in all the guest rooms.

By the end of October, 2006, our renovation project was completed.  Since then “Railay Bay Resort & Spa” has reached the top of the market with record breaking sales and occupancy rates.

The management feels that the area’s great economic growth and the facility’s renovations have placed the hotel in a position for sustained future success.

Since we have completed our renovations, the resort’s rooms and suites are the perfect place to relax after a fun filled day. Our 3 suites overlook the pristine ocean and the white sand beach. The other room categories are located perfectly among the landscaped gardens. The attention to detail and our amenities in our rooms will surely provide a comfortable experience during your stay.

Rock Climbing

Every year a plethora of rock climbers arrive at Krabi. These climbers come from around the world with the goal of challenging themselves on the famous limestone karsts. All have undoubtedly talked of Krabi upon returning home and a great number of them have returned several times. The rock climbing point is at Railay Beach (Railay East). In this area there are over 150 challenging pegged routes, concentrated primarily on the Phranang peninsula, between Phranang beach and Railay Beach. Our tour operation can offer you the “Rock Climbing Course” which can consist of either a ? day course, 1 day course, 2 day course, or a 3 day course. All of the above courses include the necessary equipment, water, chalk, and an English speaking guide.

Precautions

Massage is not recommended for certain people:

• infectious skin disease, rash, or open wounds
• immediately after surgery
• immediately after chemotherapy or radiation, unless recommended by your doctor
• prone to blood clots. There is a risk of blood clots being dislodged. If you have heart disease, check with your doctor before having a massage
• pregnant women should check with their doctor first if they are considering getting a massage. Massage in pregnant women should be done by massage therapists who are certified in pregnancy massage.
• massage should not be done directly over bruises, inflamed skin, unhealed wounds, tumors, abdominal hernia, or areas of recent fractures.

Additional tips

• Don’t eat a heavy meal before the massage
• If it's your first time at the clinic or spa, arrive at least 10 minutes early to complete the necessary forms. Otherwise, arrive 5 minutes early so you can have a few minutes to rest and relax before starting the massage.
